I operate from multiple therapeutic modalities depending upon your needs and wants for our work together. As a Person Centered Therapist, I will serve as a compassionate guide in your healing. Along the way I will also pull in tools from CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) where we'll discover important thoughts that may be barriers to your success, and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) where we'll work to gain insight & increase motivation for change.
A Little About Me:
I was born and raised in Michigan, but I wanted a more “moderate” climate and moved to Arizona. From the freezer to the fire. I found my way to Oregon a couple years ago and call it home. I love hiking, traveling, and spending time with my family exploring this beautiful state. I’ve been married nearly 30 years and have two children.
I believe individuals have the ability to change when given the opportunity. Many of us have learned ways of thinking and doing that seemed to work at the time but have created problems for us later. We then target ourselves, adding a lot of shame regarding the outcomes, which in turn creates more distress.
I enjoy helping individuals learn to accept themselves, to work with themselves to heal, rather than continuing to shame themselves. Being more understanding and compassionate with ourselves usually leads to better results. I like to join with the client in reaching their own therapy goals. I teach and support, while you find healthier ways to manage your way of dealing with your problems.
