About Me:

I am the mother of 2 adult children, a boy and a girl. My career has been spent doing various types of counseling. I am an avid walker and dog lover! I find myself drawn to water, rivers, lakes, ponds, and oceans. I enjoy enjoy kayaking, snorkeling, and boating. I am a true believer in sisterhood! For the last 20 years, I have dealt with chronic illness myself and have continued to work throughout that time.

Treatment Orientation & Philosophy:

I see myself as a professional in mental health, while at the same time, a facilitator in helping you become more of your true self. First and foremost, my intention is to provide a safe, supportive, confidential place for personal expression, challenges, and growth. My approach is essentially the same whether working with grief, depression, anxiety, or relationship difficulties. I like to focus and facilitate establishing a lifestyle of health and wellness. This may include adapting and adopting personal changes in daily living that are congruent for the person. This includes the practice of selfcare, such as eating and sleeping habits, hobbies, relationships, communication styles, and dealing with stress. I believe human beings are social and require supportive relationships to thrive. All changes can take time. I primarily work with individuals and sometimes groups.

I have studied and worked with a variety of treatment orientations known as integrative therapy. Many that I draw from include: Client centered therapy (a non-judgmental atmosphere where the client is the authority of their feelings and experience), Mindfulness (utilizing meditation and breathing and present focused), RET rational emotive therapy (challenging irrational beliefs) similar to CBT cognitive therapy (dysfunctional thinking), and Rogerian Humanistic Therapy (unconditional positive regard).
