Specialty Training & Experience:*
My graduate training focused specifically on systems theory and how individuals operate within their relational systems (intimate partner(s), familial, community, etc.). Due to the nature of systems theory, an emphasis was placed on relational work.
About Me:
Originally from Southern CA, I moved to the PNW due to family interests including hiking, rivers, and waterfalls. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my partner, son, and doggo. I enjoy walking (especially with friends), group exercise classes, and biking (leisurely). I have a passion for learning and can be found reading, asking questions, and listening to podcasts.
Treatment Orientation & Philosophy:
My treatment orientation stems from Experiential and Strategic therapies. From this perspective, I work with clients to identify how coping with a problem is serving them and collaborate in finding additional ways to cope with life events. I encourage clients to explore their emotions and promote authenticity in the process. I firmly hold the belief that individuals have the strengths that they need to solve their own problems. At times, we struggle to access these strengths which provide the lens for therapy/treatment to work through.
Therapy, for me, represents the idea that everyone deserves a change process. It is an opportunity to grow, develop, and increase self-awareness. As a clinician, I collaboratively engage with clients and provide an environment where individuals, intimate partners, and families can explore their unique identities, perspectives, strengths, and problems. I hold the belief that each person is the expert of their life story and engage in a curious stance while working with clients towards change. From a systemic perspective, I consider how various identities, circumstances, and beliefs interact within various levels of our environment. Overall, I operate under the assumption that every behavior makes sense in context.
