Recently, I’ve participated in a 140-hour training in trauma-informed, brain-sensitive yoga psychology. I use current knowledge of neuroscience as it relates to therapy and am particularly interested in how our bodies, brains and emotions work together to help us engage our deepest capacities.
My entire working life has been dedicated to helping individuals grow. In my early career, I taught at a school for students with learning and interpersonal disabilities, counseled families in early addiction recovery in a transitional program, and volunteered 200+ hours on a domestic violence hotline. For the past 19+ years I have worked as a counselor at Lane Community College helping students heal, grow, and move toward their goals and dreams..
About the Change Process
I have observed that when provided with adequate conditions, humans have a natural capacity for curiosity, calm, clarity, confidence, courage, creativity and connection. However, unresolved emotional issues, psychological wounds and trauma contribute to unnecessary suffering and barriers to joy. I foster a client’s innate ability to heal via the therapeutic relationship
In my work, I assist clients in exploring their intra-personal and relational present. I carefully choose from effective therapies suited to each client. Treatment modalities may include Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Dependable Strengths Articulation.
